Welcome to our Catalogue Search Feature. Within this listing lies a wealth of knowledge about American history all wrapped up in individuals who are willing to make it come alive.
This feature allows you to search all the catalogued individuals and find those who relate to your needs. If you want someone specific, type in their name. If you want a Soapmaker in Georgia type (soapmaker and GA). If you want all the Living Historians in North Carolina type NC. More specific methods for searching are explained below.
If you would like to see everyone in the catalogue type in (historian)
The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:
- information retrieval
- finds documents containing 'information' or 'retrieval'
- information or retrieval
- same as above
- information and retrieval
- finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'
- information not retrieval
- finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'
- (information not retrieval) and WAIS
- finds documents containing 'WAIS', plus 'information' but not 'retrieval'
- web*
- finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
