Omni Tracks the Company
| Living History Catalogue | Livnig Historian Search | Publications | 18th Century Garments |
Omni Tracks has been in the Audio-Visual and video business since 1985. We began focusing our scope to museums and historical related applications in 1988. The many requests for a "box you could hang on the wall, press a button and it talks," led us to enter into a business relationship with a talented company called dbM. Together we have developed a product which is made specifically for use in museums. The "Vocalite" is flexible, durable and easy to use. All attributes necessary in a modern museum setting.
Now the company is developing a new project involving an extensive listing of Living Historians and Re-enactors from across the country. The site will focus on the individuals not clubs or regiments. Each participant will have a page. It will include pertinent information like name, nickname, biographical, etc. It will also contain two photographs of the featured person. One close up and one with their kit-and-caboodle in front of their camp. The purpose of the site is two-fold. First, it will provide event coordinators a resource to draw from. They will be able to move through the pages of the catalogue and find people who will meet their needs. Secondly, Living Historians will be able to go to the catalogue and locate people in their area who have similar personas, people with whom they can network while improving their presentation. It will also be used by re-enactors as an address book for contacting friends they may have briefly met at an event. The uses are endless. This will be a site of people who love reliving and remembering those who went before. There will be other aspects of the site, which will be developed as time goes by.
Omni Tracks is in the business of historical interpretation. Whether listening to a carefully prepared explanation on a digital player or being enlightened by a live actor/ess sitting around camp, helping people learn from history is what we do.
